About

We will journey to the Cosmos using scalars and vectors.

Our Mission

We want to build a story of physics that consists of geometric vectors and scalars.

We want a math that sees differences and ratios of infinitesimals.

We want you to do targeted homework problems that teach the concepts of ‘map’ and ‘linear’ before we reach the tensors and someone says a tensor is a linear map.

At the conclusion of this journey we hope you find your foray into Tensor Calculus to be easier.

Our History

The dreams leading to this work began in the summer of 1990. Several students at the undergraduate level talked about their education (at that point, all three years of it) and the question was asked “what could we be doing to improve our learning?” The answer was “we want to understand Math better–it is so useful for all those areas of Science that are so interesting, like Quantum Mechanics and Relativity.”

A Physics professor, who was a particular favorite, said, “Any time I am learning something cool, it seems my first question is, can you use it in an example?”

Work is in progress to explain things using our “vector everything” strategy: Physics with Vectors and Scalars.
