Decimals

Your first exposure with decimals might have been the cash register at the store. The readout $1.50 meant one dollar bill and five dimes.

Below are some of the more commonly used decimals that tend to appear in Geometry and Trigonometry.

  • 0.25 = 1/4
  • 0.5 = 1/2
  • 0.75 = 3/4

The following include square roots:

  • 0.7071…. = 1/\sqrt{2}
  • 0.8660…. = \sqrt{3/4} = \sqrt{3}/2
