Non-one units

This is an idea entirely local to us. Sometimes something like this is called ad hoc.

If we play a game where we use units that are not based on one, then you will sense something that is present in the math when you start learning about tensors.

We assume you readily accept that 10 inches equals 25.4 centimeters.

10 in = 25.4 cm

10 (1 in) = 25.4 (1 cm)

10 (1 in) = 25.4 (1/2.54 in)

10 1 in = 25.4 1/2.54 in

If necessary use your calculator to show that 25.4 * 1/2.54 equals 10 * 1.
