One author put a dot in the superscript in front of the index to push the index further to the right so that it would be further over than the index below it. The intent was so that you would see the k coming first and the j coming second:
He said that it was important for the k to come first since the transformation is changing i to k and the i came before the j. It seems reasonable, does our computer program have anything that seems to correspond to it?
Our computer program simply makes a two dimensional array with an index for j and an index for k.
Our T[][] can be T[j][k] or T[k][j] and we have to remember which choice was made. Under the authors plan, we might say we know it is T[k][j] because when we write it we can see that k comes first.
We have one concern though–we don’t recollect seeing this mentioned by any of the other authors.
